St. Pete artist to be featured at Ybor art gallery

Tampa, Florida -- St. Petersburg artist Dee Sabean will featured during the Hoffman Porges Gallery's Summer Solstice Soiree on Friday, June 21st.

The event from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. will include a performance by Station to Station, a David Bowie tribute band. 

Sabean's will highlight work from her Circus and Sushi series at the Summer Solstice Soiree.

The Hoffman Porges Gallery is located at 1907 E. 7th Avenue in Ybor.

Artist looking for Tuskegee Airmen Memorabilia

Carrollwood, Florida - The Gallery at Carrollwood Cultural Center recently announced plans to host the THE TEST, a multi-media exhibition about the first African-American aviators in U.S. Military combat, better known as the Tuskegee Airmen.

The exhibit will be displayed at the Center, located at 4537 Lowell Road, in February 2014.

THE TEST was created by artist Jerry Taliaferro. As part of the exhibit, Taliaferro would like to create wall panels about Tuskegee Airmen from, or residing in, the Tampa Bay Area.

Tampa, FL -- The Roosters of Ybor will be auctioned off Thursday, June 13th at Bradleys on 7th.

The cement rooster statues were decorated by HCC students and on display throughout Ybor since early May as part of an art project supported by the GaYBOR District Coalition.

The auction is from 5 to 9 p.m.

Not everyone pleased with new Adamo Drive Mural

Tampa, FL - It may be the biggest mural in the city but not everyone is excited about the new Adamo Drive Mural. Several members of the GaYBOR District Coalition tell 10 News they're not happy that the mural makes no reference to the GLBT community in Ybor City.

In fact Hillsborough County Commissioner Kevin Becker says he thinks omitting any reference to the gay community was a "miss."

Entries needed for student art display

Brooksville, FL -- The Hernando County Community Relations Office is looking for entries from middle and high school students for an art display depicting the Hernando County Courthouse.

The submitted entries will be displayed during the Courthouse Centennial Celebration to be held in conjunction with the City of Brooksville's Founders Week, October 11th and 12th. The Community Relations Office suggests students use oil, pastel, pen, pencil, or charcoal, but all 2-dimensional mediums are encouraged. Entries must be submitted by September 13, 2013.
