Hernando Co., FL-- Hernando County Sheriff's Department is recognizing Deputy Bobby Stalvey for his bravery and service this past Friday, January 4.

According to reports, Deputy Stalvey was en route to the Manatee County Detention Center on assignment around 8:45 a.m., when he saw a car crash take place right in front of him.

A white, Chevy Trailblazer reportedly left I-75 and crashed into the nearby guard rail, causing it to bounce off the rail and overturn onto the passenger's side.

Stalvey crossed over the interstate and pulled over to help, and noticed the undercarriage of the car was on fire, and the driver was hanging from his seat belt attempting to free himself.

Deputy Stalvey, along with two other drivers who stopped to assist, quickly jumped up onto the driver's side of the Trailblazer and lifted the 6-foot tall, 250 pound male out of the vehicle.

Hillsborough County Fire/Rescue and Sheriff's Office arrived shortly after to assist, but Hernando County Sheriff's Department would like to recognize Deputy Stalvey for placing himself in harm's way to assist a citizen in need.
