Deputies fix up home for struggling Brandon woman

Deputies fix up home for struggling Brandon woman

Brandon, FL -- A Brandon woman going through some extremely tough times this holiday season is breathing a sigh of relief.

64-year-old Kathleen Alexander will soon be able to live in a clean, fixed-up home thanks to many off-duty Hillsborough County deputies and other volunteers who worked on her house today.

They say the home had most of its appliances and copper tubing stolen when Alexander was busy dealing with the loss of her mother and brother.

"Most of us are able to say, 'Let me make a phone call' and, 'Let me have my family members help' but she has nobody. Zero. And that's why we're here," said Deputy Carlos Bonilla with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

Local organizations also donated money and appliances towards the renovation project.

Alexander will be able to move back into her home once construction wraps up next month.
