Attorney brings concealed weapon to courthouse
Crime

Brooksville, Florida -- As numerous people were filing into the Hernando County Courthouse on Monday morning, two alert Customs Protection Officers (CPO) observed a firearm in an attorney's briefcase as it passed through the metal detector.

Deputies were then called to the courthouse to investigate. During questioning, the unidentified attorney told deputies he had put the firearm in his briefcase on the previous Friday when repairs were being done to his vehicle and had forgotten to take it out.

The attorney has a concealed weapons permit and deputies determined it was an honest mistake and he was not charged.
