Sexual predator sought in Brooksville area

Brooksville, Florida -- The Hernando County Sheriff's Office is seeking assistance from the public in locating a wanted sexual predator.

On Aug. 12, deputies issued a warrant was issued for the arrest of 34-year-old Jason Lamont Dean after he failed to meet his sex offender/predator registration requirements.

Authorities say Dean has been known to frequent the area of Martin Luther King Boulevard in south Brooksville.

Dean is described as:

  • 5'4, 150 lbs.
  • Black short hair
  • Brown eyes

Men suspected in series of high-end rims thefts arrested

Tampa, Florida -- Police officers have arrested men who they believe are responsible for a pattern of stolen high-end rims throughout the Bay area. 

Reportedly, officers saw a stolen van driving westbound on I-4 and began to follow it. The officers observed four men exit the van and try to steal rims off of several cars on West Nassau Street. 

Unregistered sex offender arrested after detective's radio blast

Brooksville, Florida -- An unregistered sex offender was arrested minutes after he was described by a detective on a local radio show Wednesday morning.

In an effort to track down Jason Adey who was at large in the community for failing to register with the county as a sex offender, Hernando Sheriff's Detective Tom Breedlove appeared on WWJB's local morning show and blasted his description to listeners.

Man sought in adult bookstore robbery

Tampa, Florida -- Tampa Police detectives are asking for the public's help locating an armed man who robbed an adult bookstore on July 31.

The man entered the Hott Flixxx store, in the 1700 block of North 50th Street, carrying a plastic bag and walked towards the video viewing booths in the back of the business. After about 10 minutes, he left the booth wearing a red, hooded jacket and a black baseball cap.

Unregistered sex offender caught after illegal burn

Brooksville, Florida -- A registered sex offender who had moved back to Brooksville from Mississippi and failed to register in Hernando County was arrested Thursday after he was caught burning toxic items.

Home invasion call leads to drug bust in Brooksville subdivision

Brooksville, Florida -- Hernando County Sheriff's deputies responding to a call of a possible home invasion in the Hill 'n Dale subdivision off Cortez Boulevard led to the bust of numerous illegal drugs Monday morning.

When deputies got to the home in the 27100 block of Thorncrest Avenue they noticed the smell of burning marijuana.

Women go shoplifting with infant at Tampa Bealls Outlet store

Tampa, Florida -- The search is on for two women caught on surveillance cameras at a Tampa Bealls Outlet store stealing merchandise while they pushed around an infant in their shopping cart.

Hillsborough Sheriff's deputies say on July 16 around 3:49 p.m., two black women walked into the store in the 7000 block of Waters Avenue with an infant.
