Sandhill Crane recovering thanks to local animal rescue

Carrollwood, Florida - The Suncoast Animal League in Palm Harbor is no stranger to animal rescues, but the rescues are usually fur and four legs.

Director Rick Chaboudy was called last week after a mother Sandhill Crane was hit by a car in north Tampa.

Sandhills mate for life and this bird and her mate are rearing two chicks.

The Sandhill family was feeding on the median of a busy road, and while the rest of the family made it safely through traffic, a vehicle hit the mother, breaking her leg.
