Hernando County to host the Long Play Trail Race

Brooksville, FL -- In a press release, the Hernando County Tourism Board has announced the Long Play Race, taking place on March 3, 2013. The race consists of a 5M, a half-marathon, 33 1/3 (LP), and a 66 2/3 (Double LP) Mile race.

It will take place at Lake Townsen Park, at 28011 Lake Lindsey Road in Nobleton, just outside of Brooksville.

The Withlacoochee State Forest trails next to Lake Townsen Park site of the start and finish line are well maintained, affording miles of great running. For those who haven’t had the pleasure of running the trails, this is an opportunity for a great experience. Many of the trails are tree-canopied, offering cooling shade along beautiful and classic Florida terrain in the Withlacoochee State Forest.

Race packet pickup is scheduled for Saturday March 2, 2013 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm and on Sunday at 4:45am at Lake Townsen Park. Lake Townsend Park’s amenities include running water, bathrooms, pavilions, a hose for rinsing off, electricity, and shaded parking. The park has plenty to do for the entire family with basketball courts, baseball fields, volleyball, fishing pier, and playground; you will find it a great venue for this race and registration.

The Double LP will be a double loop of the LP course, offering an easy Bag Drop location at the start and finish area. Another drop bag can be transported to a water stop located halfway through the loop. All Race finishers will receive a special album award with awards by age group in the LP Run.
