HART suggests students apply for youth summit in Washington, D.C.

Hillsborough County, Florida-- In honor of Earth Day, the Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority says high school juniors and seniors are eligible to apply for an upcoming summit in Washignton D.C., where they'll have a chance to learn all about how eco-friendly public transportation can be.

Details on the Generation Green on Board: A Youth Summit to Advance Public Transportation are as follows:

This summit, which will take place in Washington, D.C. from June 23 - 27, offers participants a rare opportunity to spend four days in the nation's capital meeting with lawmakers, congressional leaders, and industry professionals-while learning first-hand the impact public transportation can have on their future and the future of America.

Public transportation plays a significant role in helping our nation meet its national goals of reducing our carbon footprint and achieving energy independence. Every year, public transportation use in the United States saves 37 million metric tons of carbon emissions and 4.2 billion gallons gasoline.

To qualify for this all-expenses-paid summit, students must be a high school junior or senior in the Fall of 2013. Interested students and parents can find out more information or download an application by clicking here.

Completed Applications are due by April 22, 2013.
