Largest dog show in Florida comes to Brooksville

Brooksville, FL -- Five local kennel clubs are hosting the "Florida Classic Clusters" show featuring 10 American Kennel Club All-Breed Dog Shows, conformation, junior showmanship, obedience trials, rally trials and free tours to learn all about AKC dog shows.

The five clubs featured are:
Clearwater Kennel Club, Inc
Inverness Florida Kennel Club, Inc.

Manatee Kennel Club, Inc.
Pasco Florida Kennel Club, Inc.

Tampa Bay Kennel Club, Inc.

Visitors can go behind the scenes and learn how a dog is judged, meet dog handlers and more.

People from all over the world come to compete, with approximately 18,000 entries last year.

The event takes place at Florida Classic Park at 5360 Lockhart Road in Brooksville.

It runs Jan. 13-17 and Jan. 19-23 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. There are no shows on Tuesday, Jan. 18.

Admission is free, however, parking will cost you $5 and bring a lawn chair. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to various charities.

Pet rescues will be there showcasing their adoptable pets.

Vendors will selling everything from pet jewelry and toys, to dog food and treats.

There is also a Doggie Fun Zone featuring a full obstacle course.

Monday, Jan. 17 is "Kids Day" with the first 100 kids (ages 15 & under) receiving a free baseball cap who take the AKC show tour.

Thursday, Jan. 20 is "Senior Day" with seniors getting free parking when they mention at the parking gate.
