Hillsborough County Public Schools to host 2nd Parent University

Tampa, Florida-- Parent University, a series of free informational sessions to support the academic life of children, will be held on Saturday, April 27, at Riverview High School from 8:00 a.m. to Noon.

The first Parent University held on March 2, was such a huge success that we had a growing waiting list and several participants asked when would we do it again. Parent University is a collaboration of the Alliance for Public Schools, Hillsborough County PTA, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, and the United Way. This event will offer sessions focused on academic and support programs in Hillsborough County Public Schools, effective strategies families can use to help every child succeed, and ways to advocate for the resources necessary for our public schools.

School district representatives, along with district community-based partners, will conduct sessions. Sessions will focus on navigating the education system, student learning, and family health/wellness. The sessions are designed to be informative, fun, and interactive.  Participants gave us rave reviews after the first event.

A continental breakfast will be provided for all attendees and childcare will be provided at no cost by HOST (Hillsborough Out of School Time Program) for those families with children from 5 to 12 years of age.

For session details and to pre-register for Parent University, visit www.hillsboroughparentu.org or call 813-272-4499.

Riverview High School is located at 11311 Boyette Road, Riverview.  All sessions are free.
