Expanded Wi-Fi in Downtown Tampa
Expanded Wi-Fi in Downtown Tampa

Tampa, Florida -- There's great news for people who want to do work in Downtown Tampa.

The City is in the process of adding Wi-Fi to several municipal buildings downtown, and even to multiple parks including Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, the Tampa Riverwalk, and Lykes Gaslight Square Park.

The first part of the iniative, adding the Wi-Fi to the buildings, has been completed. Spots now offering Wi-Fi are as follows:

  • The lobby of the Tampa Municipal Office Building
  • City Council Chambers
  • City Council lobby
  • The lobby of the Tampa Police Department
  • Development Services Center lobby
  • Development Services Center conference room
  • The lobby of the Solid Waste offices

To access the City of Tampa internet in the select areas, users will search for “COT Public WiFi” and must agree to the basic terms of use.

The City of Tampa spent approximately $9,500 in equipment and installation, with an estimated $5000 per year in reoccurring internet and software maintenance charges.

Now that the buildings have Wi-Fi, the city will work to tackle the ssecond part of the initiative, bringing Wi-Fi to our local parks.

The project is expected to be completed sometime this summer.
