Armwood holds off Hillsborough

Seffner, Fla. -- Armwood's defense had not allowed an opposing offense to reach the end zone since traveling to Las Vegas for a nationally-ranked showdown in August.

The Hawks' defense yielded its first points against Hillsborough but Armwood's vaunted "D block" scored twice in the fourth quarter to beat the visiting Terriers 38-16.  The win wrapped up the 6A-6 district title for Armwood.

Armwood looked to be cruising when Corhen Ingram scored a 5-yard touchdown to put the Hawks ahead 24-0 early in the fourth quarter.

Plant rolls over Alonso

Another night of varsity football, another big win for the Plant Panthers.

Behind quarterback James Few, the Panthers scored twice in the opening minutes of the first quarter to give the Panthers a quick 14-0 lead.

The undefeated Panthers dominated on both sides of the football, slamming the door on the Alonso running game and allowing Alonso just one trip to the end zone in the first half.

Plant runs away with another one, 48-7 the final.

Armwood drops 80 on Strawberry Crest

Seffner, Fla. -- Armwood running back Matt Jones scored on a 43-yard rushing touchdown to start the game against Strawberry Crest.

The game was over then.  Why?  Because the Hawks defense has now gone 24 consecutive quarters without allowing a touchdown.

The offense made sure the defense didn't have to worry in this lopsided district game as Armwood jumped ahead 66-0 at the half before a running clock limited the Hawks to two second half scores and an 80-0 final.

Plant City holds off Alonso 9-7 to remain unbeaten

Plant City, FL - The Alonso Ravens and the Plant City Raiders are two high scoring teams.  So, who would have ever guessed this game of unbeaten teams would be a defensive struggle.

Plant City scored their only touchdown in the second quarter, with running back Dazmond Patterson involved in a strange looking play.

Armwood stays unbeaten with shutout win over Sickles

Tampa, FL - The Sickles Gryphons hosted the undefeated Armwood Hawks in a rematch of their 2010 playoff game, won by Armwood 35-3.   Unfortunately for Sickles, the results were nearly the same, with Armwood running away with a 35-0 shutout victory.

After a bit of a slow start, the Hawks got their offense moving in the second quarter.   Matt Jones had touchdown runs of 6 and 46 yards.

Alvin Bailey, came into the game when quarterback Darryl Richardson reinjured his knee.   And it didn't take long for Bailey to provide the Hawks with a spark, running 77 yards for a score.

Bailey would also throw for two scores, helping the Hawks (6-0) remain undefeated with a 35-0 win.   Sickles (4-1) suffers their first loss of the season and falls to 1-1 in district play.

He also returned two kickoffs for 133 yards, highlighted by a 99-yard return for a score.

Lastly, he totaled 12 tackles and one interception on defense.
