Apartment complex hit with 18 code violations

Tampa, Florida -- The Carlyle at Waters apartment complex on N. Armenia Avenue has been hit with 18 code violations, including 17 for structural issues.

Residents have complained to 10 News about leaky windows, mold, balcony ceilings that are collapsing and a cockroach infestation at the 392-unit complex. Some tenants like Jacquelyn Pinkney say the complex managers are not getting the problems fixed or responding to residents when they call to complain about things that need to be fixed.

After seeing a story on 10 News about the complex city inspectors spent time at Carlyle on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The complex will now have two weeks to begin fixing the problems.

City of Tampa Neighborhood Empowerment Manager Sal Ruggiero says Carlyle will now have 14 days to begin fixing the violations.

"Either they comply, or we can move it up to a civil citation and move it forward that way, or we have the option of bringing it into the criminal courts and that's something that we're going to discuss. I'm going to discuss with my staff this week," Ruggiero said.

If you have a complaint that you want Tampa City Code Enforcement to check out, Ruggiero says you can call (813) 274-5545.
