Tampa, FL -- If you like rum, than the Summer of Rum Festival is for you. The one day event at the historic Trolley Barn building is scheduled for Aug. 24th.

In a release recently sent out promoting the island-themed event, organizers say there will be a variety of rum drinks, a main street with Caribbean rum shacks and street vendors, and local bands performing on a waterfront stage!

It's sure to be a blast, but it will benefit a great cause too! Proceeds will go to My Hope Chest, a national organization that helps provide breast cancer survivors with reconstructive surgery.

The Summer of Rum Festival is an island-inspired celebration of everything rum set for Saturday, August 24th, 2013 from 4 pm to 11 pm at The Heights Waterfront- also known as the "Trolley Barn" in Downtown Tampa.

Throughout the day, attendees will be 'transported' into a Caribbean Island Main Street lined with street vendors, street performers, and a multitude of custom built rum and beer shacks serving a variety of rum drinks. 'Rum Zones' such as the Mojito Zone, the Daiquiri Deck, and the Waterfront Area will allow attendees to both 'experience and taste' the rum drinks that will be served in all flavors and varieties, from traditional to exotic. All of the rum drinks will be made from on site from fresh ingredients by expert bartenders. Live entertainment is also scheduled throughout the day featuring 4 local bands, from Reggae, Ska, Calypso, and a Jimmy Buffet & Beach Boys Tribute band.

Organizers will transform the Historic Trolley Barn building into a climate-controlled Main Street Zone and the Waterfront Lawn to accomplish this indoor/outdoor Island Inspired Festival. The Summer of Rum Festival will officially launch the activation efforts to The Heights redevelopment projects.

The Summer of Rum Festival will be a unique and rare large scale festival to occur in Downtown Tampa during the summer months. Outdoor events/festivals are scarce during these months due to the heat and daily rain downpours. "The Heights is the perfect place to hold this event due to our ability to make this into an indoor/outdoor event where attendees can cool off inside when it gets too hot" said Monica Varner, partner at Big City Events.

Fun Event Facts: 26,000 Oz. of Rum | 20,000 lbs of Ice| 25,000 Cups | 50 ton AC Unit |60+ Bartenders
