It happened near Pinehurst Dr. and Hickory Circle shortly around 1:30 Wednesday morning.

Deputies tell us 28-year-old Thomas Baker was jogging when 18-year-old Carlos Musteliel and a 16-year-old boy confronted him. Baker says he feared for his life and shot Musteliel, killing him.

The teenager ran off, but later returned to talk to deputies. Deputies tell us Baker was carrying a .45 caliber handgun and he has a concealed weapons permit.

Football player penalized for end zone prayer gesture

Tampa, Florida - From the NFL to high school football, it seems referees are cracking down on excessive celebrating on the field. But what is excessive to some is seen as a bad call by others.

It's a move Washington fans have seen before from high school football player Ronnie Hastie. He scores a touchdown, takes a knee and points to the sky. It's his way of thanking God, except this time he draws the flag.

"I've done it every time I've gone in the end zone. No one ever said anything about it done, it's tradition," says Hastie.

It's a tradition that cost his team 15 yards and it's a questionable call to many.

"There is so much gray area in the rule, we don't know from week to week what it will be," says Plant High School head football coach Robert Weiner.

Highlands Board to replace Commissioner Carlson

Highlands Board to replace Commissioner Carlson

Sebring, FL - In response to formal charges of boating under the influence, manslaughter, and vessel homicide, the Highlands County Board of County Commissioners announced they are requesting applications for a replacement for Chairman Commissioner Jeff Carlson on Tuesday, Nov. 30. Gov. Charlie Crist removed Carlson from office the day before, after charges were finalized.

Carlson is responsible for the death of his own wife, Julie Carlson, a result of striking a channel marker while driving a boat when the Commissioner's blood alcohol content was over the legal limit. He turned himself into the Highlands County Sheriff's Office Nov. 2 , but charges weren't filed until Nov. 22.

The Board is taking nominations and applications now, but don't anticipate a replacement to be finalized for up to three months.
