Suspects break into cars, uses stolen credit cards at Tampa Target

Tampa, Florida -- A smash and grab robbery at a Tampa YMCA led to the suspects going on a shopping spree at Target.

Around 4:50 p.m. on January 8, two suspects broke into two vehicles that were parked at the YMCA on Waters Avenue. The suspects smashed the windows of the vehicles and stole a wallet and a purse. 

Shelters open in Hernando County Tuesday night

Brooksville, Florida -- Extremely cold temperatures will be moving into Hernando County within the next 12 to 24 hours and, as a result, the county will be opening up two shelters for those who need a place to stay and keep warm Tuesday night.

Deer that gored woman now in state custody

Spring Hill, Florida -- A wildlife expert captured a deer that seriously injured a woman at the Survival Outreach Sanctuary last week.

The deer punctured 75-year-old Sylvia Fernandez's eye on Friday morning. She's the sister of the animal sanctuary's owner.

UPDATE: Missing Hernando Co. woman found dead

Hernando County, Florida -- UPDATE: The Hernando County Sheriff's Office says family members located Tonya Hudson's body in the area of Ernie Weaver Park on Youth Drive in Brooksville.

The medical examiner will determine her exact cause of death, but deputies say preliminary evidence indicates she died from an apparent suicide.

Con-man targets seniors with red light camera scam

Tampa, Florida - A scammer has been targeting elderly women using a red light camera scam.

"I can't believe [someone] would want to hurt people like that," said a Tampa victim who only wanted to be identified as Janet.

On Thursday afternoon, she received a call from a man who called himself Lieutenant Bell.

Ederly woman's eye gouged out by deer trying to mate

Spring Hill, Florida - A 75-year-old woman, Sylvia Fernandez, is in the hospital in serious condition after a deer punctured her eye on Friday morning around 8:00 a.m.

It happened at the Survival Outreach Sanctuary on Bowman Road in Spring Hill. 

Plans for upgrades at Weeki Wachee delayed

Spring Hill, Florida-- It was 1947 when the famous Weeki Wachee mermaids began dazzling audiences with their underwater shows, and in 2014, it's no different.

"The mermaid show was just excellent. [I've] only seen one, but I plan to see another," said springs visitor Roger Guilfoyle. 

In 2008, 140,000 visitors made their way to a then struggling Weeki Wachee Springs. That's when the state took over, and in 2013, almost 270,000 folks, like first-timer like Esther Cassettari, went for a visit.
