FREE Rock concert to honor Lee Ahlin

This Saturday’s FREE Rock School Blowout will be one to remember as Patel Conservatory’s students and faculty pay tribute to the master of music, Lee Ahlin. Ahlin created Rock School at the Patel Conservatory in 2004, after originally developing a similar program with Paragon Music. He retired from the Straz Center for the Performing Arts’ Patel Conservatory in 2012 after working with hundreds of aspiring musicians.

If you missed the sold out ballet gala, “Ballet’s Greatest Hits!”, held at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts in January, you can catch it on film!

“Ballet’s Greatest Hits!” has been made into a movie that is playing around the country. It will hit the screen on March 31 at 2 p.m. and April 2 at 7 p.m. at the Carmike Royal Palm 20 at 5125 26th St East Bradenton, 34203.

Tampa, Florida -- Hundreds of high school performers are in Tampa from around the state to participate in the Florida Thespian Festival at the Straz Center downtown!

Broadway performer Quentin Darrington, (Ragtime) is here at the Festival helping to select the winner of the David A. Straz, Jr. Center for the Performing Art’s Broadway Stars of the Future Awards. Patel Conservatory Theater Chair Ami Sallee also will judge the contest. Two winners will be chosen to go to New York to compete for scholarship money in the national Jimmy Awards competition.

Tampa, Florida -- Tampa socialite Jill Kelley says she was invited to CENTCOM's Change of Command Ceremony at MacDill Air Force Base on Friday but declined to go, saying in a statement released exclusively to 10 News that she did not want to be a distraction.

General James Mattis is turning over command to General Lloyd Austin, after leading CENTCOM for more than two years.
