'Last Comic Standing' winner coming to Tampa Improv

Tampa, Floirda -- The only female winner if NBC's Last Comic Standing will appear at the Tampa Improv this weekend.

Iliza Shlesinger, who is also the youngest winner of the show, is scheduled to perform March 8-10.

Shlesinger has also appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Comedy Central's Live at Gotham, E! Network's Chelsea Lately, The Soup, NBC'S Last Call with Carson Daly and Showtime's Pauly Shore and Friends.

Brooksville, Florida -- In a post on their Facebook page, the Hernando County Government asks for contributions to the Centennial Celebration for the Hernando County Courthouse.

They are asking for photos, stories, and anecdotes for a celebration being planned for the City of Brooksville's Founders' Week in October.

Brandon, Florida-- Chopped Grillmaster contestant, Chad Ward is coming to the Rolling Pin in Brandon for a couple of BBQ Fiesta demonstrations over the next two months. Mark your calendars for March 9 and April 27!

Ward is one of eight Celebrity and Top Chefs that the Rolling Pin is bringing in. They're partnering with Brandon Foundation to make the Tampa Bay area a Culinary Destination.

Brandon, Florida-- Burns Middle School is looking for a new principal after Susan Burkett left  to take over at Bloomindale High School.

Burkett replaces Mark Wes,t who moved to Armwood High School.

Burkett has worked at Bloomingdale before.

Learning to use one’s voice is especially crucial for performers - and actress Andrea Caban will hold a workshop on Monday, Feb. 25 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Shimberg Playhouse at the David A. Straz, Jr. Center for the Performing Arts downtown. The workshop will be based on the Fitzmaurice voice method.

PRECO Selects Students for Washington DC Trip

Wauchula, Florida-- Two local 11th graders were selected by Peace River Electric Cooperative (PRECO) to attend the national “Youth Tour to Washington DC” event, a weeklong tour with1,500 students from 46 states.

Shakera Latimore of Southeast High School in Bradenton, and Savannah Miller of Hardee High School in Wauchula, along with about 30 other students from Florida electric cooperatives, will enjoy the rich history of the nation’s Capitol firsthand.

On Saturday, February 23 from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m., Hillsborough County Animal Services, along with Best Friends Animal Society and the Hillsborough Animal Health Foundation will present Neighborhood Pit Bull Day.
