Chief John Eason was sworn in on Tuesday, February 12 by judge Marcus Ezelle.

Tampa, Florida -- Hillsborough County has set a date for the Class of 2013 Induction Ceremony for the Woman's Hall of Fame.

The event takes place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 28 at the Tampa Convention Center in downtown Tampa.

The Center for the Woman's Hall of Fame is sponsored by the Commission on the Status of Woman.

TSIC student wins Leaders 4 Life Fellowship

Wauchula, Florida -- SFSC announced Jan. 30, Hardee Senior High School student Kaylee Mancillas was selected to receive a $40,000 scholarship through South Florida State College’s Take Stock in Children’s (TSIC) Leaders 4 Life Fellowship. She was one of five Florida students selected for the fellowship.

Patel Conservatory Youth Orchestra launches 2013 Composers Initiative

The David A. Straz, Jr. Center for the Performing Arts’ Patel Conservatory invites composers to submit original chamber orchestra music as part of its 2013 Composer Initiative.

Up to three of the submitted pieces will be selected for non-commercial recording and public performance by the Patel Conservatory Composers’ Orchestra (PCCO). Six composers will receive detailed feedback from Patel Conservatory Youth Orchestra (PCYO) Principal Conductor Stephen P. Brown, an award-winning composer. All participants will receive general feedback.
