Fundraiser benefits K-9s for Veterans

Carrollwood, Florida - A talent showcase in Carrollwood will raise money for K-9s for Veterans which provides service dogs to wounded military personnel and veterans.

Life Amplified Productions will put on the show September 14 at 1:00 p.m. In addition, there will be a silent auction which bidders can win items from numerous businesses. The event will be held at the Carrollwood Tampa Pitcher Show at 14416 North Dale Mabry Highway.

Hillsborough County, Florida-- Labor not this holiday weekend, but do stop into Hillsborough County Animal Services to take advantage of their "End of Summer Chill" special.

According to an Animal Services ad, Labor Day marks the traditional and unofficial end of summer, so they're is offering a "way-cool special": all cats and kittens adoptions are just $20, with spaying/neutering, vaccinations, license, and micro-chip all included!

Carrollwood, Florida - Celebrate Halloween in style along with your dog at  the "Doggie Howl-O-Ween" at Northdale Park on October 25.

The event runs from 6:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Northdale Park at 15550 Spring Pine Drive in Tampa.

There is no charge for the fun which includes a dog, child and owner costume contest along with a family friendly Halloween Carnival.

Search for Koopa continues, missing labradoodle's owner offers reward

Brooksville, Florida-- Koopa, a one-year-old, black and ash labradoodle, was lost last month from the Rester Road area, but his loving owner isn't giving up hope.

Brendan Mulvaney wants Koopa's safe return so badly that he's announced a $1,000 reward for the person who can make it happen. 

Koopa was lost on July 7, 2013 when Mulvaney was on vacation. The dog escaped from his pet sitter's home. Mulvaney has been searching for Koopa ever since- posting ads on Craigslist and hanging flyers in the area.

Hernando County, Florida--Hernando County Animal Services is offering amazing savings on pet adoptions for the remainder of the summer. 

According to their website, their "cool cats" summer sale offers locals $10 off the pet adoption fee. Call a kitten yours for just $30, or adopt an adult for just $10!

They're also offering a "Dog Days of Summer" deal that gives locals $25 off of the pet adoption fee, while some pups are even free!

Hernando County, Florida-- Animal Services has completed the addition of a new cat-viewing room in the front of their facility, but staff members say they still need a few things before it's fully finished.

"We are so greatful that we now have a great way for families to observe the kittens and spend some time getting acquainted with their new pet," said Managing Veterinarian Dr. Lisa Centonze.

Hernando County Sheriff's Department welcomes new K-9!

Hernando County, Florida-- The Hernando County Sheriff's Department has announced the addition of a new K-9 to their crew! 

Sheriff Al Nienhuis said the 19-month old German Shepherd, "K-9 Topper", will join the K-9 unit with Deputy Brandon Cox as his handler, who recently lost his former K-9 partner to a sudden medical illness.

Topper was born in the Netherlands, but was soon shipped to New Smyrna Beach where Deputy Cox and supervisors selected him from several other pups.
