Whether you are a job seeker looking for resources to land a new job, a parent looking for free activities for children or a student searching for your next favorite book, "You belong at your library".

This National Library Week, join our nation's libraries and librarians by celebrating the place where we all belong. First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the country each April.

Carrollwood -- Enhance your conversational English this weekend.

Adults 18 and older are invited to come to the Jimmie B. Keel Library to practice their English conversational skills with English speakers.

No registration is required to participate. The class is co-sponsored by the Hillsborough Literacy Council and the Tampa-Hillsborough County Public Library System.

The class runs from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25.

The library is located at 2902 West Bearss Ave., Tampa.

Sebring, FL -- On Tuesday, commissioners discussed a new policy that bans all tobacco use on county property starting Jan. 1, 2012.

Spring Hill, FL -- Hernando County is reporting that construction activities on the south side of Elgin Boulevard have accelerated during the past week and the drainage system installation is now complete. Milling and overbuild to the existing roadway is also complete.

The final asphalt layer will be installed after sidewalk, driveway, swale and sodding construction is done and the existing manholes have been adjusted to match final asphalt course.

Concrete driveway connections and sidewalks are being installed from the Progress Energy Utility Easement to Landover Boulevard.

Shady Hills, FL -- This weekend may be challenging to get out and continue shopping, but if you like Christmas parades then you won't mind!

Next Saturday, Dec. 3, from 11:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Shady Hills Road will be closed from Caldwall Lane to Lenway Road for a Christmas Parade.

The parade is expected to start at the Mary Giella Elementary School and then proceed North on Shady Hills Road to Greenglen Lane. A detour shall be provided.

Extension approved for Hernando Beach Channel Dredge Project

Hernando County, FL -- The Florida Department of Transportation has approved the county's request to extend the completion deadling for the Hernando Beach Channel Dredge Project. The project must now be completed by June 30, 2012.

At the Board of County Commissioners' meeting on Thursday, the Board approved a staff recommendation to  make modifications to the dredge alignment to be more in line with the originally dredged channel and to avoid disturbing a spoil island nesting habitat.
