Tampa real estate booming; leads state

Tampa, Florida-- The numbers are in, and they are up! More homes were sold last month in the Tampa Bay area than in in the past seven years combined.

According to MLS figures, 3,100 homes were sold in Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco and Hernando counties last month, a 7 percent increase compared to the same month in 2012.

Home sales prices also increased, up 22 percent over the same time period. 

The average home in the Tampa Bay area sold for $150,000.

HIllsborough County, Florida-- The Hillsborough County Property Appraisers office wants to remind everyone that the deadline to apply for homestead exemption or agriculture classification is fast approaching. Residents have until March 1st to file the required forms.

TAMPA – Property owners in Hillsborough County seeking to lower their taxes through either homestead exemption or agriculture classification have until Friday, March 1 to file the required forms with the Hillsborough County Property Appraiser’s Office.

Bloomindale Library expansion project to start soon

Construction is set to begin on the Bloomindale Regional Public Library expansion. The library will maintain its regular hours, but there may be some inconveniences during the renovations. The project is expected to be completed in December.

Tampa, FL-- Looking for a cool, new place to live? How does a revitalized, 12-unit apartment building, formerly used by Gangster Al Capone, sound?

And that's not even the best part! The man leading the group responsible for the renovation and reopening is Buccaneer legend Simeon Rice. 

According to a recent release, the 1920's building was originally labeled a knock-down until the group purchased it in foreclosure and restored the entire place.

Looks like the Brandon Library will be undergoing some construction the next couple of month. In the end, it could be worth it. A new parking lot will greet patrons.

The front part of the parking lot of the Brandon Regional Library, which is located in the Sandy Rodriguez Center at 619 Vonderburg Drive (just west of Parsons Avenue), will undergo major improvements beginning in January 2013.

It looks like the renovation of the Seminole Heights Branch Library is underway! Hillsborough County's Twitter @HillsboroughFL tweeted this photo today of the demolition of the city's library.

The county says a new bigger, better library is expected to be completed in 2013.

Tampa, FL-- Many homeowners are struggling to make their mortgage payments nowadays, and others are even facing foreclosure. Wells Fargo wants to assist Tampa area Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, Wells Fargo Financial, and Wells Fargo Home Equity customers facing financial hardships at their upcoming Home Preservation Workshop.

It's scheduled to take place this Thursday, October 18, from 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. at the Tampa Convention Center, West Hall, located at 333 South Franklin Street in Tampa.
