Young Brandon authors show off writing at Writers Museum

Brandon, FL -- Bell Shoals Baptist Academy is holding Authors' Museum Friday night. 


The event highlights the writing and performance talents of the students at Bell Shoals Baptist Academy.


Students will be performers, teachers, and exhibitors at the school wide event. They'll be showing off their unique poetry, original dramas, and they'll even teach some writing workshops.

Sebring, Florida -- The Fabulous Limeliters will be hitting the stage this Tuesday, Mar. 1 at the South Florida Community College Theatre for the Performing Arts at 1:30 p.m.

As a part of the Matinee Series, the group will perform, "offering a unique blend of thrilling harmony, whacked out sense of humor, and classic folk music, the Limeliters continue the tradition of the original group from the ‘60s. With their energy and enthusiasm undiminished, the current members remain as exciting an act as the genre has produced."

Tampa, Florida -- Check out "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" at Academy of the Holy Names this weekend.

The Academy of the Holy Names Bayshore Players deliver an evening of song and dance as they showcase an entertaining musical that depicts the story of Genesis chapter 39.

The show starts at 7:30 p.m. tonight and runs through Sunday.

Brooksville students celebrate Black History Month

Brooksville, FL -- Friday, at-risk students in Brooksville will commemorate Black History Month with a school celebration.


Star Education, a school for at-risk kids in grades 6 - 12, is holding its Black History Month Celebration Friday, starting at 10:30 a.m.


Star Education is part of the Hernando County Public School District and is located at 1036 Varsity Drive in Brooksville.

Students gather to plant community gardens

Town 'N Country, Florida - Keep Hillsborough County Beautiful, Tampa Bay Beautification, Morning Star School and The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company are joining together to dedicate and plant the Morning Star Unity Garden at Morning Star School on Mar. 1 at 10:00 a.m.

More than 75 students will join with their teachers, parents, local dignitaries, community members and event partners to plant vegetables, enjoy interactive education stations and learn about the benefits of gardens and green spaces.  

ScottsMiracle-Gro and its partners will install 1000 gardens and green spaces in the U.S., Canada and Europe by 2018.

London Boy's Choir visits Bloomingdale

Valrico, FL -- Monday night the London Boy's Choir performed at Bloomingdale High School in Valrico.


The Bloomingdale High School Music Department just returned from England where they performed in the London New Years Day Parade and International Chorale Festival earlier this year. 


This week the Bloomingdale musicians hosted London's prestigious and popular Northampton School for Boys Show Choir and Jazz Ensemble. It's the first time the group has performed in Florida.

Register now for Saturday's SFCC Panther 5K Run/Walk

Avon Park, FL -- The 2nd Annual South Florida Community College Panther 5K Run/Walk is being held this Saturday to benefit the college’s intercollegiate athletics programs.

The Panther 5K Run/Walk will take participants on a path through the beautiful SFCC Highlands Campus and along College Drive.

Awards will be presented to the first three finishers in each age and gender category as well as Overall and Masters.

The entry fee for the SFCC Panther 5K Run/Walk is $25 from now through the day of the race. Students with a current I.D. may register for $15. Every participant receives a Dri-Fit long-sleeve shirt. Sizes cannot be guaranteed for those who entered after Feb. 17.
