Strides for Education Tampa Bay 5K Scholarship Walk

 

Tampa, FL – The Hillsborough Education Foundation will host its first 'Take Stock in Children’s Strides for Education Tampa Bay 5K Scholarship Walk' on Saturday, December 8, at the Tampa Bay Times Forum downtown.

Fondation representatives say the walk is one of 13 events taking place the same day throughout the state. The Foundation’s goal is to raise more than $250,000 to establish scholarship funds for students in Hillsborough’s 31 middle and 44 high schools.

Hillsborough students to record and perform original songs!

Tampa, FL-- We have some very special recording artists right here in Hillsborough County!

According to the Hillsborough County School Board, more than two dozen public elementary school music students will record and perform their original songs today and tomorrow as part of the Young Song Writers Symposium.

They say students will spend the day at Morrisound studio recording their original song accompanied by musicians and teachers, and will then perform the song at a concert at Orange Grove Middle Magnet tomorrow at 7 p.m.

Patel Conservatory offers dance workshops in December

The Patel Conservatory at the David A. Straz, Jr. Center for the Performing Arts will offer two dance workshops in December for dancers of all experience levels.

Saturday, Dec. 15, 2:30 to 6 p.m.:

Contemporary dance, jazz and tap will be taught to those in grades four through eight.

Ballet, contemporary and tap will be taught to those in grade nine through adult.

Sunday, Dec. 16 from 1:30 to 5 p.m.:

Contemporary dance, jazz and hip-hop will be taught to those in grades four through eight.

Students at local elementary school interview each other on school life

Tampa, Florida -- In participation with the Great American Teach-In, 10 News teamed up with South Tampa's Grady Elementary's second grade teachers, Tamara Hoover and Diane Castellano.

This year, we let their classrooms interview one another and ask the tough questions about their school.
