Tampa, FL-- Lowry Park Zoo representatives have proudly announced that a mother manatee named “Joannie” and her 3-month-old male calf named “Lad” will return home to Jacksonville waters on Tuesday, October 16 after the mother was saved last January.

Highlands County, FL-- Save the date for the 27th Annual Civilian Conservation Corps Festival at Highlands Hammock State Park. It's scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 3 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Organizers say the event witll feature antique cars and tractors, arts & crafts vendors, live entertainment by Weatherbee’s Magic & Comedy, Sebring Model Railroad’s expansive model train exhibit and a wildlife exhibit from Gatorland of Orlando.

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Florida Park Service and the Friends of Florida State Parks, Inc. will focus this year's events on supporting Florida’s public lands, encouraging citizens to spend more time outdoors and visiting state parks to enjoy a more healthy and active life style.

Tampa, Florida-- The next time you're hanging with your kids at Kate Jackson Park in Hyde Park, watch out for aggressive squirrels, or at least be on guard as you place your food on picnic tables.

An employee with the Parks Dept. told me a squirrel scratched a child, which prompted them to put up the signs in the picture above.
