PRECO to assist PA after Sandy

Wauchula, FL-- Those weathering Superstorm Sandy in the Northeast are in need of assistance, and your local electric company, Peace River Electric Cooperative (PRECO) chipped in a helping hand.

After receiving a plea for help from an electric distribution utility in Pennsylvania, PRECO reportedly sent a line foreman, six line technicians and four service trucks to help crews of Citizens’ Electric in Lewisburg repair damage to power lines.

Flood Mitigation Workshop next week

Hernando County, Florida-- The Emergency Management Section of the Hernando County Sheriff's Office announced today that a flood mitigation workshop will be held for the public on Tuesday, September 25.

"Emergency Management is aggressively seeking every available resource to address the needs of our citizens who may be affected, directly or indirectly, by storm surge or inland flooding," Emergency Management representatives say in a release about the workshop.

Clearwater Beach, Florida-- Tropical Storm Isaac has caused a hazardous, rough surf at Clearwater Beach, therefore Water Closure Flags and "No lifeguard on duty" signs line the beach.

Clearwater Public Safety officials ask residents to keep in mind that even if the weather clears locally, the storm's impact further out in the Gulf will still pose a danger.
