River levels rising

Hernando County, Florida-- The sheriff's office has reported that river level has continued to slowly rise over the past couple of days.

Reports say the river remains below flood stage, but residents living near the river should continue to keep an eye on levels, and prepare for emergency protective measures, should they become necessary. 

Sandbags, if needed, are available at the Community Center in Ridge Manor and at the Brooksville Fire Station in Brooksville.

Enrichment Center Shelter now closed

Hernando County, Florida-- HCSO announced the storm shelter located at The Enrichment Center, (800 John Gary Grubbs Blvd.) closed today at 4 p.m.

The shelter closed by a collaborated decision of ARC and EM staff. 

According to HCSO, the Red Cross will continue to respond to individual calls through the Disaster Action team throughout the weekend.

Hernando County, Florida-- Accordint to HCSO, the following roads or intersections remain closed at this time, and residents are advised to continue seeking different routes around these locations.

American Red Cross: new shelter open for flood victims

Hernando County, Florida-- Following an assessment of community needs, the American Red Cross opened a shelter in Brooksville at 3 p.m.today.

The shelter is located at The Enrichment Centers, 800 John Gary Grubbs Blvd. Brooksville FL, 34601.

According to a recent release, the Red Cross Shelter at Ridge Manor will close at 5 p.m., because of the decrease in any immediate threat of flooding along the Withlacoochee River, and the lack of demand from area residents.
