Hernando County 2012 Hurricane Expo

Hernando County, Florida-- June 1 marks the first official day of hurricane season, and we have already seen two named tropical systems in the Atlantic. 

While this does not mean we will have an overly active season, you should still be prepared in case a tropical system targets Florida.

This Saturday, June 2 (the final day of Florida’s 2012 Hurricane Preparedness Week), Hernando County’s 2012 Hurricane and Safety Expo will be held at Weeki Wachee Springs State Park.

Storm creates light show over Hardee County

ZOLFO SPRINGS, Fla.- Rough weather moved its way across the Bay area Thursday night, creating quite the light show for residents in Hardee County.

10 News photojournalist Kevin Carlson captured these images from Zolfo Springs Thursday night around 9 p.m. on his way to cover the possible tornado in southern Sarasota County.

The video looking west towards the storms is edited and slowed down to better show the lightning in the sky.

Brooksville, FL -- Be prepared for hazardous weather conditions by learning from the experts. The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Management Section is inviting the public to attend a presentation on “Severe Weather Hazards.”

The presentation is part of the National Weather Service's Severe Weather Awareness Week, starting Jan. 30 and ending Feb. 3.
