Man steals over $1,600 in wine from Publix

Tampa, Florida -- A man broke into a locked wine display and made out with 6 bottles of wine totaling over $1,600.

The man entered the Publix on North Dale Mabry Highway on February 11. He made his way to the wine department and broke the locks on the wine display. He then took two bottles of Roederer Cristal, two bottles of Armand De Brignac and two bottles of Perrier Jouet Belle.

The total value of these six bottles is $1,641.94. 

The suspect then picked up a pack of toilet paper, three reusable shopping bags and left the store without paying. 

Dog sabotaged by cat - eats 27 hairbands!

Tampa, Florida -- A cat knocked 27 hair bands on the ground -  and they were promptly eaten by a 2-year-old Boston terrier!  

Cadence the cat and Lucy the Boston terrier both live the the Hearn's home in Tampa. One day Cadence knocked a bunch of hair band to the ground, 27 to be exact, and Lucy ate them. 

After a day of vomiting and low spirits, the Hearns took Lucy to the vet and an X-ray revealed the undigested hair bands in her stomach. 

Woman writes 'just divorced' on minivan

SEBRING, Florida (AP) - Lois Lewis is happily divorced and she wants the world to know.

The 74-year-old southwest Florida woman recently scrawled 'Just Divorced' across the back of her minivan - a riff on the newlywed tradition.

Highlands Today reports Lewis and her van have since become a roving novelty on Highlands County roadways, met with honks, thumbs-ups and requests for photos.

Spring Hill, Florida -- What was supposed to be a nice day on the river with her two kids became a day from hell for one mother after another woman in her rented canoe reportedly went crazy.

Hernando Sheriff's deputies say Barbara Van Patten was riding along in the rented canoe with Shana, Shana's two children, and a tour guide when she decided to jump out of the canoe and head into restricted waters.

Computer thief uses cat food as a cover...literally

Spring Hill, Florida -- Detectives arrested a man Monday who they say stole four laptop computers from a Spring Hill Walmart store on two occasions.

Hernando Sheriff's detectives say 35-year-old Jason Brady was seen on surveillance video twice on April 30 and twice on May 3 putting a laptop computer in a shopping cart and then putting a large bag of cat food on top of it. He would then leave the store without paying for either of them.

The total value of all four computers was over $3,000.

Brady was arrested and charged with four counts of retail theft.

Man arrested for fly swatter assault

Brooksville, Florida -- Hernando deputies say they've arrested a Brooksville man for attacking his roommate with a fly swatter.

According to the arrest report, Dale Barr was sitting a recliner on Saturday when 66-year-old Jack Henderson Coston Jr. approached him and began to slap him gently with the plastic end of the fly swatter.

Coston then allegedly turned the fly swatter around and struck Barr with the metal handle, leaving a small cut next to Barr's right eye.

Barr ran to his bedroom, where he awaited law enforcement.
